Actec's methodology and approach in project management is relying on a system of partnership. Indeed, we are supporting durable and top quality projects thanks to local partners being at first carefully selected and having demonstrated in the past their fine execution capacity and project management abilities.

Our partners carry out projects which are submitted to Actec's project committee approval and which, since the early beginning of the contacts, have undergone a deep analysis by Actec's project management staff.

This way of working offers the advantage for ACTEC (and Actec's donators) not to detach costly expatriate personel since our partners' local staff are perfecly able to follow-up the projects daily activities. This strategic choice allows also the partner to own his own project from A to Z under Actec 'ssupervison Actec is committed to visit at least once a year the project in question and encourages partenrs to visit us whenever possible.

The project's duration varies from 2 to 5 years but Actec's role and committment do not stop with the end of the project,. We carry out every other year a survey sent to all our partners in order to catch up with the number of beneficiaries

ACTEC action results in strengthening our southern partners. Our development strategy is based on the principle of subsidiarity. It is up to them to assume the task of development in their own countries. Our role consists of helping them to achieve this while avoiding that we act as a substitute for them. Our work is based on trust and respect emanating from our joint mission. The professionalism of local players is of extreme importance to us so that programmes started up can reach their longterm objectives.

The NGOs of the south with whom we collaborate are our partners. These associations translate the aspiration of soli-darity conveyed by ACTEC into action. Thanks to the local partners, our wish to help is not just words but words which are translated into action for our beneficiaries.

ACTEC promotes civil society in developing countries. The countries of the south do not have the means to offer all the basic services to their people. Moreover, it is often the case that the functioning of these countries is hindered by excessive bureaucracy, corruption, etc. Our partners are responsible citizens who take on the task of contributing to the development of their country without expecting everything from the state. We ask local partners to cooperate, if possible, with local public authorities. Our projects are often taken as an example by the public bodies which try to reproduce them. Our work plays the role of catalyst for local initiatives.
